Meet Dr.Susan Leiva
Susan Leiva, DMD
Welcome to my practice! My team and I work hard each day to provide the most comfortable and relaxing orthodontic practice possible for our patients. We want you to feel at ease here, knowing that you will receive the most efficient treatments with gentle care.
I’m a very social person, and I enjoy making people feel better about themselves through beautiful, healthy smiles! Just seeing the end result is great, but getting to know a patient throughout treatment makes their satisfied smiles that much more rewarding.
For my formal education, I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University for my Associate’s Degree, my Registered Dental Hygienist Degree as well as my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Afterwards, I completed my Orthodontic Training at New York University.
Keeping up with the latest advances in orthodontics is important to me. My highest priority is having the ability to offer my patients the very best in treatment, and I always need to stay current with the most comfortable and efficient methods. My studies include attending local and national meetings to learn alongside leading experts.
I knew I wanted to be an orthodontist from the moment I had my braces at 12 years old! After 18 rewarding years, I am grateful for the chance to have changed so many lives for the better! When a patient goes from being embarrassed of their smile to grinning with pride, I know I’ve done my job well. I am blessed and lucky to have such a gratifying job!
Each patient brings something new to the practice, and I enjoy building personal connections with each person. I especially enjoy laughing with our younger patients, and watching them blossom into confident young adults! My team and I love getting to know our patients and their families. We also care about our community, and support our local baseball and football teams as well as the cheerleaders, band members and dance schools!

I grew up in Bergen County, NJ, where my first language was Spanish! I love living in Monroe Township, and am proud to raise my daughter here. The light of my life is Izabella, my eight-year-old daughter. We also have a dog named Lola. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, shopping, theatre, and listening to all kinds of music. I also love watching football and baseball, and am a huge Yankees fan!
In our community, I always attend Career Day at Applegarth School and volunteer for various activities at Nativity of Our Lord Church. I have been a volunteer with JDRF walk-a-thon for the past three years and love it! Every moment of my life is spent with people I enjoy, and for that reason I consider myself incredibly lucky. I hope you’ll come to meet me and join our family of patients!
